Healthy Thursday: New Ventures

Wind Surfing? Kite Boarding? Board Yoga? Ok that last one may be for experts only, but summer is a great time to try something new to get exercising.  A few years ago I tried wind surfing (the equivalent of the bunny slope) and really enjoyed it.  It was something out of my element but it paid off.

Trying new things, out of your comfort zone or element, gets you out of the same old rut we find ourselves in. Look in the paper, do an online search for groups in your area, the local community center or YMCA/public exercise area.  Open up your mind, join in without preconceived notions about what will happen or who is there.  You’re there to experience something new, meet people and have fun.

Try the closest university, they may have programs that you could try, maybe audit one of the exercise classes.  Sometimes they will offer discounts or have special tuition rates. Nothing in your area?  Go online and do a search for exercises, aerobic activity or fun ideas.

Your body will thank you!
