Congratulations, Voters! You read the initiatives, carefully weighed who was running for what office, weighed pros, cons and voted! Now we all live with the consequences of the ballots. Congratulations to the politicians and ballot initiatives that won. Here’s to you and your willingness to serve the American People in our best interests.
No matter who won, whether your favorite got in or ousted, the dye is cast, so all we can now do is live with the consequences of our collective actions or non-actions. What is clear is that voter turnout is apathetic at best. Various websites touted 28% or so voter turnout, so the majority of Americans can’t complain about who won or who lost.
Basically, America the Land of the Free, can run itself. Politicians are mere placeholders for the Constitution to keep on chugging, like a well-0iled train ramping up that hill. America needs to grow and whether or not we, collectively, agree with various policies, laws and regulations, we grow.
Growth is a painful process, there are spurts and shoots, there are plateaus, peaks and valleys. How we deal with these ups and downs defines who we are as Americans. We won’t always agree with ideas, values and worth, but we can agree to be compassionate and strong.
So I leave you today with the request to be patient, listen to others without creating an argument in your mind, be open to new ideas, see the whole picture.
Afterall, we’re all in this together.
