Mediterranean foods are one of the healthiest in the world. There is an abundance of fresh vegetables, low fat meats such as lamb, fish/shellfish, pork, chicken and even some low-fat beef. You get lots of Omega-3’s from Extra Virgin Olive Oil as well. You get low-fat, low-carb and low-calorie foods that are tasty, vibrant and different. Mealtimes will not be boring, I guarantee! The recipes are easy to follow with step by step instructions and each recipe includes a picture of the finished product. I’ve been using the cookbooks by this publisher for years now and not a one has failed me yet. I lost 40 pounds with “The Little Big Vegetarian” book, which was my first.
I’m still reading the recipes, having thumbed through the first time to get a feel for the book and recipes. They are divided into 19 sections, most everything imaginable, from drinks to shellfish, pastas, lamb to vegetables to desserts. Any basic home cook will be able to find the ingredients in their hometown grocers (or a good substitute) and follow the recipes. Just read through the first time and find any steps that may need more time to prepare.
I give the McRae books a 100% overall.
