GoFundMe Cookbook Fundraiser!

Apologizing for not posting a weekly review today.   I’ve been busy working on my “Ultimate Simple Healthy Fresh Cookbook”, gathering and writing recipes, introduction then creating, marketing, publicizing the crowdfunding website fundraiser on gofundme, Ultimate Simple, Healthy, Fresh Cookbook by Brick ONeil – GoFundMe

It’s been eye-opening how difficult it is to actually get people to donate to getting the cookbook published! Lots of people say ‘tell me when it’s ready to buy’, not realizing that if funds are not raised, it will not be published.  Publishing a cookbook is not cheap: for the first run of 50 copies, it will cost $2000, for a hardcover, full color cookbook.

Then I will have to charge $50 for each cookbook–it sounds expensive and it is, but the cookbook will be nearly 400 pages with over 200 recipes.  That is time consuming, each with a color picture of the recipes, which publishers and book printing companies charge out the nose to create.  When there are actual physical hardback copies available, please consider buying one for the low-income person in your life.  The cookbooks are full of economic information, healthy food hints and tips, all the recipes are low-carb and low-salt but savory or sweet but all good for you!

There needs to be at least a small amount of income generated for each sale to have another run of 50 cookbooks printed with the end goal of getting the attention of some major backer, publisher, agent, advertiser, broadcast/cable channel or chef to help publicize the cookbook.

My target market is low-income households that have health issues, such as I am. I’ve been on SSDI for over ten years and, as you know from my biography, I have kidney and heart failure, high blood pressure-blood sugar-cholesterol stemming from immunosuppressants and other medications i must take.  So I know what I’m talking about with this low-carb, low-salt cookbook geared towards low-income families.

So when you see the ad for the gofundme cookbook fundraiser, please donate $10, $20 or whatever you can afford; share the post/ad with your friends because even if you don’t cook or like books, you may know someone that is looking for inexpensive, healthy foods they can make.  You can see the ads on facebook, google plus, tumblr, twitter, stumbleupon, pinterest, linkedin, so please share and donate what you can!

Thank you in advance!
