How to ask for donations?

In case you’ve lived under a rock the past 30 days, I’ve been pushing/marketing/begging for donations to get my Ultimate Simple, Healthy, Fresh Cookbook published.   So far 13 awesome friends have generously donated $445 amongst themselves towards the $2000 goal to get 50, hardcover, full-color cookbooks printed.

The social networks and followers/friends break down like this:

Facebook = 350

Linkedin =   470

Google+  = 1193

Pinterest =      57

Twitter     = 1843

For a total = 3913.

So, 13 out of 3913 have donated, how do I reach the remaining 3900 people? I’ve placed informative posts about the cookbook, monetary updates, begging updates, pleading updates and so forth.

How do I get people to stop passing the post by and actually click to donate? I started the crowdfunding or crowdsource after a few friends suggested it. Out of the 4 or 5 crowdfunding websites, I chose gofundme as it has the most simplified way to create and post the fundraiser.  It’s not like I’m asking for funds for something frivolous or outrageous.

I’ve also placed ads on six different free classified ad websites and they haven’t brought any donations in either.  If anyone has free ideas on how to post, create or get new donations or awareness for donations, please let me know.   I’ve tweeted to alot of the chefs on twitter and many ‘faces’, to no avail.
