Monday Book Review: Quick & Easy

Quick & Easy Hardcover

Having bought several other cookbooks by “Love Food” and “Parragon” publishers, I didn’t hesitate to purchase “Quick and Easy” when it was in the bargain section of Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago. Neither publisher puts out cookbooks that I wouldn’t use.  The cookbook is rather large-8×10 inches and 320 pages. It’s not an easy book to handle, requiring self and counter space, plus quite a handful at over 3 pounds.

What you get is typical healthy recipes with loads of information that is helpful, with hints and dips in each recipe. Each recipe also has a full color picture depicting what the finished product should look like, or reasonable facsimile.  They aren’t difficult recipes and anyone with a rudimentary education in cooking can follow all of them. Some of the ingredients may be expensive or hard to find, but you can substitute most anything out in any of the  recipes.

As far as healthiness of the recipes, use your judgement: there are recipes that are not diabetic/heart friendly so I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this cookbook solely based on this requirement. However, having said that, each recipe can be made healthier using your sound judgement and knowledge of low-carb ingredients.

I would give Quick and Easy 4 stars.
