Americans are more obese now than anytime in her history. Why? Basically, the problem boils down to what happens in the kitchen-what Americans are feeding themselves. But, Ample Americans (as my bf says) can only feed themselves what the U.S. Government says we can eat. Which leads to health problems. Americans are not exercising, walking or taking care of themselves in this modern century either. Why? Many avenues of exercise are either too expensive or unsafe/high in crime to safely exercise. Healthcare has skyrocketed, insurance companies are actively creating ways to get out of paying for costs.
The U.S. Government has been subsidizing unhealthy and unsafe foods for Americans to consume for decades now. Corn Syrup, Modified Foods, Beet Sugars, Chemicals and preservatives innundate our food supplies. Why does a box of fake desserts and preservative-filled chips cost lower than a bag of apples and carrots? Mr. and Mrs. Average Citizen cannot afford hundreds of dollars a week to feed a family of 4.5 people nutritious, healthy, low-carb, low-starch foods like they are supposed to. How about the U.S. Government subsidizing eggplant farms and tomato orchards?
Unhealthy foods and high crime rates inhibit Americans from exercising correctly. Eating all those subsidized junk food ‘restaurants’ is making Americans feel like lead, unable to waddle out the door to their cars. Our veins are filled with fat, cholesterol and salt so we can’t be active. Sure, Americans can choose not to fill our faces with unhealthy foods, but we can’t afford to eat healthy due to low-incomes. Walking is the best exercise, but drive by shootings, robberies, stabbings occur with almost minute-by-minute action. Parks, tracks, streets are closed or are no longer safe.
America’s healthcare is a nightmare, other countries gladly accept travel health vacations, so Americans (those who can afford trips) get cheaper, better healthcare. Insurance companies are guaranteed income, while Americans have to fight, struggle and die waiting to have procedures covered. Dental care, which is sadly lacking and needed in America, is so over-priced, that 70% lack dental care. (www.webmd.com). Neither medicare or medicaid pay for dental work, and the dental insurance today in the U.S., require upfront fees (sometimes hundreds of dollars) which prevent a majority of receiving proper care.
How can we fix this? Ensure healthy foods are subsidized by the government that are available to all Americans. Create safe havens for exercise, programs and fee-free activities available for Americans. Overall the U.S. Medical and Dental Care so that all Americans receive free care. It’s time America was number one again.
