Updating my LinkedIn profile (click link on page) and decided to add my past Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster job. Why? It’s part of my experience and proof that I once held a job outside writing and Pre-Kidney Failure. That is a difficult field to work in, no one wants the Adjuster involved. No one from the injured worker, company, lawyer, doctor and the state supervisor is yelling at you to close the claim while everyone else is conning, conniving and scamming to keep the claim open or to close without making the ‘injured worker’ return to work. This may have been only my personal experience in the field. To think I only did it for five years. The most horrible, stressful job I ever had.
But, here were my duties:
Performed case management duties for Workers’ Compensation Adjuster companies from Initial Interview with injured workers, companies, lawyers, doctors and state supervisors. Did paperwork for ability to work, return-to-work, transitional job analysis, job modification requests, loss of earning power assessment, medical tests and surgeries, market cost analysis, labor market surveys, job analysis, time loss assessment. Utilized Merck Manual, Tabors Encyclopedia, DSM-IV, Encyclopedia of Jobs, Disability Assessment for Jobs, Dictionary of Occupational Titles, SVP-Specific Vocational Profile Analysis.
