2018 First Quarter Almost Over

2018’s first quarter is almost over, we have one week to examine our resolutions, determine where we are and what or if our goals are the same or have changed. Taking stock of our lives is a great way to find out our happiness, health and truth.

With one week to go for the first quarter to end, I’ve discovered my health has taken a hit. Eating nothing but food pantry canned goods, paltry food stamp amounts have made my blood sugars in the 500’s and my A1C an astonishing 14. My first quarter examination has left me stunned. My weight is steady at 160, with a few ups and downs the past three months. I’ve got to do better and change my eating and exercising habits. One of my smaller bills is dropping off, so I can tack that on to my healthy grocery shopping budget.

Been reading a few of those ‘mental health’ quizzes in magazines, websites and books. One area is glaringly absent: male friends. According to those ‘experts’, they state that each man needs 3-4 male friends for healthy mental health. My male friends (gay and straight) have been severely lacking the past handful of years. So, any men out there feel free to send me a hello, how’s your exercise routine, how do you keep your blood labs healthy, etc.? I’ve never been much outgoing or reaching to shake a hand first, but maybe there is something for a healthy mind and having good male friends.

My goals are pretty much the same, get to a healthy eating pattern. Due to new health issues, i’m allergic to all the recipes in all my cookbooks. Isn’t that a kick in the teeth? So i’m exploring new ways of eating and cooking. I’ve got to keep on my light weight exercises and cardio. Same with skin care routine for healthier skin. Doing more outdoor activities is high on my list, and fingers crossed, finances will be better the second half of this year.

My writing has taken a back seat this year, due to death, health and surrounding circumstances. My goal is to set aside a few hours each day for writing and stick with it. Sticking to a goal with mental health issues in the background has been difficult. Each day is a new start.

With one week to go in the first quarter of 2018, how are your goals and resolutions stacking up?
